BIOGRAPHY
Lindsay Leigh Bowman “Miss Danville Pittsylvania County" "2008-2009"
· Crowned “Miss Danville Pittsylvania County” July 27, 2008 – at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, VA. She won the “Interview” portion of the competition and her talent was singing.
· Will represent Danville/Pittsylvania County at the “Miss Virginia” pageant to be held in Roanoke in June 2009. Her platform for the pageant and for her community service for the next year is the Boys & Girls Club, a positive and safe place to learn and grow. She volunteers at the Chatham Boys & Girls Club.
· Formerly of Seaford, VA, she graduated with honors from York High School in Yorktown. She and her parents, Ken and Brenda Bowman, have now made Dry Fork their home.
· Graduated with Honors (President’s and Dean’s List) from Averett University, Danville, VA with a degree in Sports Management – 2007.
· Prior to transferring to Averett, was a Political Science student at Christopher Newport University, Newport News, VA.
· Works as a Legislative Assistant to Delegate Charles D. Poindexter, Virginia House of Delegates 9th District (Floyd, Franklin & Northern Pittsylvania Counties), in Glade Hill. Duties also include working in Richmond during the General Assembly sessions.
· Is an avid NASCAR fan and, while working on her degree in Sports Management at Averett, served internships at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), Martinsville Speedway and Langley Speedway, Hampton, VA.
· Served as “Miss Langley Speedway,” for two race seasons.
· Regularly performs the National Anthem at community, political and sporting events to include the Danville Braves home games and at Virginia International Raceway.
· Won the “Colgate Country Showdown” in Altavista, VA in June 2008. Will compete for the state title at the Virginia State Fair in Richmond on September 26, 2008.
· Was 1st runner-up in Danville’s “Southside Superstar” competition held summer 2008.
